MEET MATT
I grew up in Lincoln Park, raised by my parents, Richard and Mary Anne Stitzel, alongside my three sisters. After graduating from Holy Name High School, I pursued higher education, earning a bachelor's degree from Wilkes University and a degree in Applied Sciences from the Simmons Institute of Mortuary Science.
Today, I am the proud owner and operator of two funeral homes, serving families with care, respect, and professionalism during some of their most difficult times. Beyond my professional work, I have always believed in giving back to the community that shaped me. I have served as a Little League coach for Spring Township and volunteered for many years as a firefighter and engineer with the Spring Township and Goodwill (Muhlenberg Township) Fire Companies.
I currently live in Spring Township with my beautiful wife, Becky, and our four wonderful children: Sarah, Jacob, Ethan, and Matthew James.
I am running for Berks County Coroner because I believe that families deserve compassionate, skilled, and dedicated service during their most vulnerable moments. With my background in mortuary science, decades of experience in funeral service, and deep roots in our community, I am committed to bringing professionalism, transparency, and heartfelt care to the Office of the Coroner.
Berks County deserves a Coroner who not only understands the science and responsibility behind the role but also values the dignity of every individual and family we serve.
